Inspiration for the series came from Forrest’s reading of two especially interesting books. The first, a small compendium of American history, describes important events on a single page. American History in Bite-Sized Chunks by Alison Rattle and Allison Vale employs a concise, bite-sized format, which these books emulate. The second book of significance is The Situation Room: The Inside Story of Presidents in Crisis by George Stephanopoulos. In his book, Stephanopoulos describes numerous instances when presidents from Kennedy to the present day have needed the unique resources—including access to national or international events or information—of the Situation Room to make informed decisions, sometimes of monumental consequence.
Of course, the selection of the most important decisions a president makes, or of which quote had the most impact, is somewhat subjective. Using various search engines, including AI, the author sought to find common answers. If there were overlapping answers from the AI searches, further research was conducted to better understand the context and implications, and a final selection was made.
Forrest Tower hopes you enjoy each and every book in the series.
